Harry Kane (31, Bayern Munich) took a swipe at Thomas Tuchel (51), who will take the helm of England’s national team starting next year.
The English Football Association made a surprise announcement on Tuchel’s appointment in mid-April. Gareth Southgate resigned after the UEFA Euro 2024, and interim coach Lee Casley took over the baton. Various names were mentioned as the next head coach, including former Chelsea manager Graham Potter, but the FA, which aims to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North Korea, China and the U.S., has decided to give Tuchel an important task.
It is true that there are question marks. Tuchel started his leadership career as coach of FSV Mainz 05 in 2009 and became a champion contractor after joining Borussia Dortmund in 2015. He made remarkable contributions to the 2016/17 German Football Confederation (DFB)-Pokal victory and lifted six trophies in just two years when he was playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Chelsea, who replaced Frank Lampard, who was ousted in 2021, beat Manchester City to win the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League medal. He later took the helm of Munich in 2022 and voluntarily resigned this summer, citing poor performance.
Tuchel’s main weaknesses are his one-way communication style and emotional attitude. In fact, Tuchel finished poorly as Dortmund, PSG, Chelsea and Munich were all replaced. Most of them were due to friction with the club, not poor performance.
Kane opened his mouth less than two months before England’s appointment. He said he was looking forward to accompanying Tuchel, who will soon reunite, but he remained vigilant, saying that there must be someone who does not like 비아그라.
“Tuchel is very disciplined, and if necessary, he will not hesitate to confront,” Kane said in an interview with British media The Sun on the 16th (local time). “He is quite straightforward, and there must have been a player in Munich who did not like (the way he communicated).”
“However, all coaches have their own ways to communicate with players, criticize them, and motivate them. Not all players can like a new coach even if they are not Tuchel,” he said, clarifying that he is not criticizing Tuchel.
Still, Kane said, “Every player in every team has an opinion. Ultimately, I think Tuchel’s way of leading us will be exciting. I look forward to seeing him again.”
