The name of the Houston Astros’ home stadium, which opened in 2000, will be changed. For the first time ever, a Japanese company will take the right to name the stadium of a Major League Baseball team.
The Major League’s official website MLB.com reported on the 19th (Korea time) that the Houston club signed a new stadium naming right contract.
The name of the stadium will be changed to “Minute Maid Park,” which has been used so far this season. The name of the new stadium is Daikin Park.
According to the report, Houston and Daikin signed a 15-year naming rights contract for the stadium. It runs from January 2025 to 2039.
Houston’s home stadium is a retractable dome that opened in 2000. It was called Enron Field from 2000 to 2002. It has been named Minute Maid Park since 2002.
In other words, the name of Houston’s home stadium has been changed for the first time in 22 years. Minute Maid, the juice brand, has long used the name of Houston’s stadium since Enron, who went bankrupt due to accounting fraud.
Daikin, the new owner of the Houston Stadium, is a Japan-based company that develops, manufactures, and sells heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigerating equipment.
“토토사이트 has about 98,000 employees worldwide, 10,000 of whom are in Houston, Texas,” the Houston club said.
The Houston club also mentioned that the contract for naming the stadium with Minute Maid has ended, but it hopes to continue to cooperate in the future.
